Telecomunications Technicians

Telecommunications Technicians install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain telecommunications equipment. They also provide reports, may direct the work of others, complete requests for new service, establish methodology for installing telephone service, call switches, test trunks, test links, install communication circuits, and determine appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications. Telecommunications Technicians will perform a variety of complicated tasks. They must rely on their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of latitude is given and creativity is expected. Candidates must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Some Telecommunications Technician positions require an associate's degree or its equivalent and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
